Books That Changed My Life: My DB Approved Reads

If there’s one thing that has truly impacted the way I live my life, it’s the books that  have crossed my path. Books have this incredible ability to transform your  mindset, to ignite that spark inside you, and to guide you in ways you never  thought possible. Below, I’m sharing the six books that have genuinely changed  my life—each one offering its own unique perspective on growth, resilience, and  creating a life that feels fulfilling and intentional.

1. Atomic Habits by James Clear

“Atomic Habits” has been a game-changer for me when it comes to  understanding the power of small, consistent changes. James Clear’s philosophy  of making 1% improvements every day has resonated with my belief that  wellness is built over time—through small, mindful choices. I love how he  emphasizes that our habits define us, and even tiny adjustments can lead to  monumental shifts in our lives. It’s practical, motivating, and has helped me create  habits that align with the vision I have for my life.

Why I Love It:

•  The concept of tiny changes leading to massive results feels so achievable.

•  I’ve adopted his habit-stacking method to make wellness practices fit  seamlessly into my routine.

2. The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk

“The Body Keeps the Score” is a book that has redefined my understanding of  how closely our bodies and minds are connected. Written by Bessel van der Kolk,  it explores the relationship between trauma and the body, emphasizing how deeply  past experiences affect our physical and emotional health. This book made me  realize the importance of tuning into my body, listening to its messages, and the  value of practices like breathwork and body-based therapies for healing. It’s a  profound read for anyone interested in the intersection between emotional well being and physical health.

Why I Love It:

•  It highlights the importance of paying attention to our bodies as part of our  healing process.

•  It changed the way I view stress, trauma, and how our experiences manifest physically.

3. The 5 AM Club by Robin Sharma

I’ll be honest, I was never, naturally a morning person, but “The 5 AM Club” by  Robin Sharma genuinely inspired me to start carving out time for myself first thing  in the morning. The idea of waking up early to dedicate time to my mind, body, and spirit has become a core part of my routine, even if I don’t always make it up  by 5 AM. I love the idea that those early hours are a gift—a time when we can get  ahead, gain clarity, and do the things that set us up for a successful day. This book  is all about taking control of your mornings to elevate your life.

Why I Love It:

•  It taught me that mornings are an opportunity to pour into myself before the  world gets busy.

•  The concept of starting the day with focus and intention has been a game changer for my productivity.

4. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

“The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle was my introduction to mindfulness and  presence. Tolle’s teachings about the importance of living in the present moment  struck a chord with me, especially in today’s world, where we’re constantly pulled  in a million directions. It’s a book that makes you slow down, breathe, and  understand the beauty of the moment you’re in, without letting anxiety about the  future or regret over the past take control. It’s one of those reads I go back to often  because its lessons are timeless.

Why I Love It:

•  It reminds me to be fully present, whether I’m practicing skincare, meditating,  or simply spending time with loved ones.

•  It’s a powerful tool for calming the mind and focusing on what really matters.

5. Breathe by James Nestor

“Breathe” by James Nestor changed the way I view the simple act of breathing. It  delves deep into how something we do unconsciously can transform our health,  energy levels, and even our mental clarity when practiced mindfully. I’ve  incorporated some of his breathwork techniques into my daily routine, and it’s  amazing how powerful this practice can be for reducing stress and promoting a  deeper sense of well-being. The book also sheds light on how breathing efficiently  can even improve physical performance and sleep quality.

Why I Love It:

•  It’s made me much more conscious of my breathing patterns, helping me feel  more grounded and energized.

•  The science behind breathwork is fascinating and has motivated me to make  breathing exercises part of my self-care.

6. You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay

“You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay is an empowering book about the  connection between the mind and body. It focuses on the idea that our thoughts  and beliefs have a direct impact on our physical health. Louise Hay’s gentle,  compassionate approach encourages readers to release negative thought patterns  and replace them with love, forgiveness, and positive affirmations. This book was  eye-opening in helping me realize just how powerful our thoughts are in shaping  not only our experiences but also our physical well-being.

Why I Love It:

•  It’s a beautiful reminder to practice self-love and the importance of positive  thinking.

•  It has inspired me to create affirmations that promote healing, wellness, and  emotional balance in my life.
