I’ve gotten to learn so much about my skin through the years. What works best for me and definitely what doesn’t. It’s also enabled me to really learn about skincare products and what they contain in order to really get my skin looking and feeling the best it can.
There are a lot of “hero” products available now and one of those is Vitamin C. Now I know you think you get enough of that by drinking Orange Juice every morning or eating it though a healthy diet but it applied topically it can really do wonders for your skin.
The benefits of using Vitamin C for the skin are
- BRIGHTENS DARK SPOTS – Vitamin C can help lighten hyperpigmentation and dark spots by evening out your skin tone so whether you have redness or suffer from pigmentation adding this to your daily routine you will see a difference.
- BOOSTS COLLAGEN PRODUCTION – Age and sun damage cause us to lose collagen in our skin. Vitamin C helps boost your skins collagen production to leave it firmer and plump which in turn smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles
- SKIN REPAIR – Vitamin C not only gives you added protection from the Sun but everyday stress, damage and pollution. It encourages healthy cell turnover and also slightly thickens the dermis layer of the skin to help guard against UV rays and Sun exposure. It really gives you a glowing complexion.
*please note that this does not mean that by adding Vitamin C to your skincare routine you can stop using SPF. Vitamin C works by repairing the deeper layers of your skin so the top layer still needs protecting.
I’m currently using Vitamin C in a serum by Dr Dennis Gross and also in a daily paste by LIXIR SKIN (image above) but there are plenty of other ways you can use it like creams, masks or cleansers. I have listed my picks below at different price points from low to high.
